Coalinga CHP asks for help after fatal accident Published: May 9, 2007
Ara Nuyujukian, 47, of Fullerton was southbound on State Route 33 near the mile marker 3.5, just north of the Kern/Kings County last Saturday when he became involved in a traffic accident. The accident was reported to the Coalinga California Highway Patrol Office at 1:30 p.m.

According to a report from the CHP, Nuyujukian, was driving a 2007 Infiniti at an extreme high rate of speed and lost control after crossing a rise in the road. The vehicle skidded off the west road edge and immediately started overturning.

His vehicle continued tumbling for approximately 420 feet coming to rest on its wheels approximately 100 feet west of SR 33 in a pasture, according to a CHP report.

The driver was air lifted to Fresno Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Nuyujukian was wearing a seatbelt and the front and side airbags deployed, according to investigating officer Foss.

Foss notes the collision appeared to have occurred a while before the initial call. "This may be due to the fact that the vehicle appeared to be an abandoned vehicle."

The CHP is requesting information from anyone who may have seen the collision or who saw this vehicle in the field prior to 1:30 p.m. Please contact Officer Foss at the Coalinga CHP Office at (559) 935-2093.

Man dies in car accident

A 47-year-old Fullerton man died from injuries suffered in a wreck that was discovered Saturday afternoon in Kings County near the Fresno County line, authorities said.

Ara Nuyujukian was flown to Community Regional Medical Center, but soon died, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The wreck was reported at 1:30 p.m., but may have gone undiscovered for a while because Nuyujukian's vehicle came to rest in a pasture, the CHP reported.

He had been driving south on Highway 33 at "an extreme rate of speed," the CHP said.

The 2007 Infiniti skidded off the road and overturned repeatedly for about 420 feet, coming to rest 100 feet off the road in the pasture, according to the CHP. He had been wearing a seat belt.

Anyone who witnessed the wreck is asked to call CHP officer Foss at (559) 935-2093.
